Position Summary: The Controller plans and directs the accounting operations of the company to ensure scalable efficiency and accuracy in the finance function; works closely with the leadership team to influence and execute strategic plans to support rapid growth of the company; provides strong leadership and oversight in continuous improvement and enhancement of the company’s ERP system; and develops and refines predictive financial reporting to support strategic business decision making.

Responsibilities include:
Oversee and direct all accounting staff and general accounting functions.

Report regularly to the leadership team on the company’s financial condition and key business metrics.

Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure proper accounting of transactions, mitigate risk, and promote operational efficiency.

Develop standard processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency in accounting functions and records and to facilitate efficient onboarding and training of new staff members.

Plan, hire, coach, and develop the accounting team needed to support rapid growth of the company.

Work closely with the operational management team and third-party consultants to enhance the Company’s ERP system to increase functionality and efficiency of operations and business reporting while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data.

Generate monthly financial statements and report on variances from financial plan.

Prepare financial budgets and forecasts.

Prepare monthly reporting for the company’s primary lender and ensure compliance with loan covenants.

Manage communications with vendors and other creditors.

Coordinate and manage the annual audit of the company’s financial statements.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and business registration requirements.

Required Skills, Qualifications & Education:
7+ years of accounting/business experience and proven success in a high-growth company.

Experience in a manufacturing and/or eCommerce retail business a plus.

Strong accounting background and understanding of GAAP.

Strong business acumen and decision-making skills.

Proven ability to coach, motivate and develop high-performing teams.

Continuous improvement mindset and background.

Experience with LEAN processes a plus Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite with advanced Excel skills.

ERP system experience required; Specific experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.

Experience creating, interpreting, and explaining financial reports, forecasts, and other business information to a wide variety of users inside and outside of a business.

Previous involvement in athletic programs a plus.

BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field required; MBA or Masters of Accountancy preferred.

CPA or CMA preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Viewing computer monitors for extended periods of time.

Talking, listening, and typing for extended periods of time.
